After the Windows Vista restart or even after Windows explorer process restarts, the quick launch items got arranged in an alphabetical manner and also resizes to the default size. According to the default settings of Windows Vista it does not save the changes in settings when you customize the quick launch items ,it does not save the changed Windows quick launch items location and its size also. This issue of quick launch items location changing and resize occurs in both windows XP and windows Vista. But this issue can be easily resolved by a small Windows Vista registry fix.
Follow the procedure given below for the registry tweak:
- Open Windows Vista Start menu and then select Run and type regedit in the Run box(or you can simply enter regedit in the Windows Vista start menu instant search field and press Enter).
- This will opens the Windows Vista registry editor and navigate to the following path:
- Locate the registry key named “NoSaveSettings” of type “REG_DWORD” with a registry value of “0×00000000 (1)” and set the value to 0 by right click on the key and from the context menu select modify.
- If you don’t find the particular registry key with this name you will need to create it.
- The registry key can be created by just right click on the opened registry editor window and select new and then select dword value option.
- Name the newly created registry key as “NoSaveSettings” and set the value as 0.
- Exit the Windows registry editor and restart Windows Vista.
