In Windows Vista, the Network Connections screen still exists, but you have to go through the Network and Sharing Center screen first. This is an annoying and time waste process. Using a very useful explorer trick using with "::" and explorer class IDs, you can create a shortcut of Network Connections in Windows Vista that will take you directly to the Network Connections screen. The steps for this trick is given:
- Right click on the desktop and from the opened context menu select New and then Shortcut.
- In the location box, copy and paste explorer.exe ::{7007ACC7-3202-11D1-AAD2-00805FC1270E} and hit Next.
- Type in Network Connections as the shortcut name and Finish.
Your shortcut to Network Connections is now on your Windows Vista desktop. If you want to create another shortcut of Network Connections in your Windows Vista quick launch bar for easy access, just drag it to the quick launch bar.If you want to change the Network Connections shortcut icon to the correct Windows Vista Network connections icon, the icon image can be found in %SystemRoot%\system32\netshell.dll in the first position.
