Accessing Blocked Files in Windows Vista

. Friday, June 6, 2008

If someone sends you an executable file through internet in Windows Vista and you run antivirus scan on it and find that it is safe from security threats. But if you try to run the executable file and you may receive the following error message:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
To bye pass this error message in Windows Vista, do the following trick:
Right-click on the executable file that downloaded from internet and from the opened context menu choose properties. At the bottom of the General tab, look for a section for Security that says "This file came from another computer and might be blocked to help protect this computer." Click the Unblock button and try to open the file.
You should be able to run the file now.
